We take you behind the scenes of re-creation. A new bespoke service that gives our customers the chance to breathe new life into old, unworn or broken: rings, brooches, earrings, bracelets and loose diamonds by creating a new design for our clients.
The below photo is an old diamond ring that had been sitting in a client's jewellery box for over eight years. The setting and style of the ring was not the minimal style of jewellery our client likes to wear. The three diamonds in the ring were good cut and colour and with some TLC could be brought back to life in a new design.
We increasingly get asked by our clients what they should do with old jewellery that may have been passed down from family members or given as gifts many years ago which has sentimental value, but not the style of jewellery they like to wear.
This got the RS team thinking about how we could create a service that would be sustainable and enable the re-creation of old jewellery into something more modern and that you actually would want to wear.
The photo below shows the custom-made rose gold necklace using the diamonds from an old yellow gold diamond ring pictured above. Our customer prefers wearing rose gold and wanted a minimal necklace design that represented her three children. We carefully removed the three diamonds from the four claw gold setting and cleaned them thoroughly so they would sparkle again. For the new necklace design, we created a delicate rose gold bezel setting which made the diamonds the hero. Each stone represents each of our client's children.
Our Client Clare had been given a rough cut loose Emerald stone from her father 10 years ago. Clare had wanted to get a ring made, but wasn't quite sure of a design and needed some guidance on the best way to cut the Emerald stone into a shape that would complement a fine white gold setting and a fine band. We created some designs at our first meeting at Recreational Studio to show Clare what was possible with cutting the Emerald and how we could set it in a feminine way. We work with some of Australia's best stone cutters and diamond setters, so Clare knew she that her stone was in safe hands.
Clare loved an Asscher shaped diamond we showed her an example of, which is cut similarly to emerald cut diamonds, except Asschers are more square in shape.
We began the process of cutting and polishing the rough Emerald, then creating a fine milgrain white gold ring band with a beautiful halo floating above the centre stone.
